Fred Brown Jr., 19, known as “Buddy,” dreamed of becoming a fireman and merchant seaman. The Charleston, South Carolina, native had an entrepreneurial spirit, selling palmetto roses at a young age and later joining his father at a paint shop. Police found him on June 11 in a parking lot in the 900 block of Peeples Street SW with multiple gunshot wounds.
